POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
Teach undergraduate
and graduate courses in jazz and/ or popular music; direct jazz
and/or pop ensembles; supervise M.A. theses;
develop curriculum. Administrative duties will include department
and committee assignments or other service appropriate to the
position.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required: Completed
doctorate or equivalent professional
experience, documented record of achievement as a performer
and/or scholar, and evidence of success as a college teacher. Desirable:
Breadth of teaching experience, interdisciplinary interests,
administrative experience.

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The Doctoral Program in Music of The Graduate Center, The City
University of New York, seeks nominations/applications for an experience
scholar in ethnomusicology. The Graduate Center, located in midtown
Manhattan, has some 4000 students enrolled in 31 doctoral programs
and 5 master's programs. The Doctoral Program in Music, offering
concentrations in musicology, theory, composition, ethnomusicology,
and performance draws its faculty from The Graduate Center as well
as from a number of colleges in the CUNY system.
Duties:
Conduct doctoral seminars and direct dissertations on a wide range
of ethnomusicological topics.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
We seek an accomplished scholar with a relevant doctoral degree.
Candidates should be experience scholars possessing qualifications
appropriate to appointment as an Associate Professor, Professor,
or Distinguished Professor. Rank will depend on the level of qualifications.
A distinguished candidate of substantial merit or accomplishment
in the field who has an international reputation as a scholar may
be nominated as a Distinguished Professor, with an annual salary
supplement.

Assistant Professor of Music History: California State University,
Chico, beginning August 2008. QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in musicology
or ethnomusicology (ABD considered); Ability to work collaboratively
with colleagues, commitment to excellent teaching and to addressing
the needs of a diverse population of music major; a thorough grounding
in both the Western music cannon and global or popular music. Additional
experience helpful in world, jazz or pop ensemble conducting or
performance. DUTIES: Teach courses in classical, American and global
music history; general education courses in appreciation, global
and/or popular music. Maintain activity in the appropriate professional
organizations and provide service to the department, university
and community. Teaching assignment will depend on the needs of
the department. Rank: Assistant Professor. Salary: Commensurate
