IASPM-US represents the United States branch of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (www.iaspm.net). Current membership covers a range of scholarly areas and approaches, and IASPM-US has been an important part of the popular music landscape since 1982. IASPM-US awards a book award and graduate student paper prize at the annual conference.

IASPM-US publishes the Journal of Popular Music Studies, a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to research on popular music throughout the world approached from a variety of positions. Each issue features essays, reviews, roundtables, as well as the innovative "Musings" section. The society also publishes a semi-annual Newsletter and sponsors an annual peer-reviewd book award in popular music studies.
